'Control 2' is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox and PC—with a bigger budget

After months of speculation, Remedy Entertainment and 505 Games have finally revealed what "codenamed Heron" is — and it's actually great news.

In the three years since the release of Totally Incredible Control, the partnership has announced that it is now co-developing and co-publishing Control 2.

When Control 2 finally arrives, it will be coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It will also use Remedy's Northlight engine.

The big-budget Control game, also  know as codenamed Heron, is Control 2, a full-blown sequel to our award-winning game Control." Galante brothers said.

Control 2's initial development budget has been confirmed as €50 million, with Remedy retaining ownership of the game's intellectual property,

The Control franchise's game director Mikel Kasurinen also teased a new direction for the franchise. "With control, we leapt into the unknown," he said.

“We wanted to create something new. Something different and unexpected. A world like no other. Thanks to the audience for making Control such a success for us.

“With Control 2, we will take another leap into the unknown. It will be an unexpected journey. It will take some time, it is by far the most exciting project I have worked on
