Ohio authorities said a shooting near a recreation center Friday night left one person dead and several other victims, some of whom were minors, according to multiple reports.
According to local media outlet WLWT in Cincinnati, a heavy police presence responded to the shooting that took place on Betton Street in Cincinnati’s West End neighborhood around 9:30 p.m.
Cincinnati Police Department Chief Teresa Theetge said during a news conference at the scene, near TQL Stadium and Laurel Park, that six victims had been shot, including a man who died. His age and that of the other victims were not provided. At least two of the victims are believed to be teenagers or children, according to WCPO reporter Sean DeLancey.
«We are gathering all the evidence so we can bring these people to justice,» Theetge said, WXIX reported. «It is unacceptable that on a Friday night six people are shot to death in our city.» «This happens too often,» Theetge added, WLWT reported.

It is not immediately clear why the shooting began and Cincinnati police have not provided any information on a possible suspect or suspects at this time.
The scene remains active and police have taped off the road leading to several homes.
Authorities said the victims were transported to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and several of them had gunshot wounds, WLWT reported.
The hospital did not provide the ages or conditions of the victims.

According to WLWT, the shooting took place less than half a mile from Taft High School, where a football game was being played.
